The Power Principle
By Blaine Lee
As a leader, there is absolutely nothing I believe in more than actively promoting “Full Engagement” of all the people with whom I work. The subtitle of this book, “Managing Energy, Not Time, Is the Key to High Performance and Personal Renewal” has great truth in it. My personal leadership philosophy of being “tough-minded on standards and tender-hearted with people” is powerfully reinforced by Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz in this work. In my personal experience, I have found that when an organization has a clear strategy and competent people, the challenge of the leader is to ensure they stay aligned and that they have a good level of sustained energy to fight the good fight for the enterprise. In this sense, energy management is mission-critical for every organization. This book advances this notion in a practical and powerful way.
